An accident on the job can be devastating, and this may be particularly true at a construction site. Workers at construction sites in California often deal with heavy equipment and materials that may cause grave injuries if mishandled. Construction workers' accidents may require hospitalization and time off work, creating even more of a hardship for the worker and his or her family.
Currently, there is construction in progress at a local airport. New hangars being built at the airport will house a flight school for aspiring pilots. It was at the construction site of one of these buildings where a recent accident occurred.
Because an investigation by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health Administration is underway, not many details are being released. However, it is said that two workers were attempting to connect iron beams on the building. When they were unable to control one of the beams, it fell onto them. A contractor on the scene believes the building frame may have shifted, and the workers apparently lost control of the beams when they began shearing the bolts.
Surprisingly, both workers escaped serious injury. Nevertheless, they may still require medical treatment and time off work to recover fully, and this could be costly. A contractor on the site admitted that injuries on the job are a normal part of life for a construction worker. However, this does not need to include the burden of mounting medical bills. These California workers would be within their rights to contact an attorney with experience in construction workers' accidents.
